MEAT N6

We opened Meat N6 in October 2021. It was at the end of the long pandemic, and London, like the rest of the world, was coming to terms with post Covid life. The pretty little shopping street of Swain’s Lane, N6, is more of a ‘Hamlet’ than a ‘Village’ and sits at the corner entrance to the beautiful parkland of Parliament Hill Fields, and Hampstead Heath.
It is the first time that Meat London has taken on a going concern. The small shop had been under its previous owner for just more than a year, and had traded well. However, with the owner having become unwell, it was a good opportunity for all. Having completed the formalities of a deal, we moved in and closed the unit for only a couple of days while we cleaned, reorganised and ‘Meat Londoned’ the site. It was humbling to be warmly welcomed by the locals and those curious to see what the new guys were doing.
The shop sells much the same as it’s grown up partners, N16 and NW5, but we kept some of the product ranges that existing customers had become used to. Grass fed, free range beef from Scotland, small lambs from English lowlands, pork from the South Downs and free range poultry from a number of farms. Top quality meat, butchered and prepared by our Team of skilled butchers. The sausage machine is often to be seen churning out fabulous regular favourites and Head Butcher Troy’s special of the week.
The small but eclectic wine selection is well stocked and the ever enthusiastic Alexia is on hand to help with matching the meat to the wine and offer the regular, weekly tasting of new additions. Alexia also gets to nurture the well stocked cheese fridge.
The shop is not big, and I don’t think that we could claim it to be beautiful, but it’s a proper butchers shop and with Rocky, who we inherited with the business, and Andres, the very first Meat London Apprentice, completing the Team of four, Meat N6 has something for everyone and everyone is welcome.
