Sometimes our business moves in a direction that we really hadn’t planned or expected. Usually we feel in control and, from experience, we have a pretty good idea what will happen next. Our senior Team will often be found in Clicia N16 or Rustique NW5 drinking coffee and talking tactics while planning strategy. This summer, we seem to have fallen into the former. Of course, we offer Courses and Events and we now act as the Weber-Stephens Grill Academy, which is growing continuously and provide very popular courses.

However, this summer, the Events have gained a life of their own and the Meat N16 garden has become a hot ticket when people have been planning their corporate days out, their stag and hen parties, birthday parties or even just a reason to get a group of friends together for an afternoon of butchery and eating. More recently we ran our first ‘Meat the Tutor’, Cheese and Wine tasting event at Meat NW5, Tufnell Park (look out for more evenings in the autumn). Our programme has something for everybody and we cater for all ages, so if you are planning an Event, why not look into the fun and informal opportunities that we can offer.

Can it really be less than a month until the start of the Game Season? I always associate the Game Season with autumn but I’m absolutely not ready to give up on summer just yet. Both of our shops are bursting with great stuff for the BBQ. As always, there is a big selection of delicious skewers, burgers, sausages and chicken, but what about our Spatchcocked Chickens, BBQ Pork Ribs or Butterflied Lamb Legs? And while you are busy salivating over the cooked prospects, who else but Meat London could offer such a fabulous range of summer wines and craft beers?

For the summer we are promoting four delicious wines:

Casa do Homem Vinho Verde, Quintas do Homem 2015

This lovely Portuguese wine is created from the Loureiro and Arinto grapes varieties, the aroma is fruity and floral. It is very elegant and fresh in the mouth with a vibrant acidity. Perfect on a hot day at your garden or at the park.

Luis Cañas Blanco, Fermentado en Barrica 2015

Vibrant citrusy Viura is blended with the more weighty Malvasia and the brief barrel maturation adds a honeyed roundness to the crisp lemony fruit. Beautiful golden yellow colour with bright lemon-tinted reflections. Great with BBQ chicken or pork!

Côtes de Provence Rosé, Cuvée Des Lices, Ravoire et Fils 2015

With the increase of the boys drinking the rose wines, we girls sometimes refer to it as a ‘BRO’SE’ !

A fresh and balanced rosé that captures the spirit of the Cote d’Azur with its strawberry and white peach flavours. Crisp, bright and lively, it is a real pleasure and the red berry fruits burst out of the glass, lifted by delicious acidity.

Bodegas Luis Cañas Rioja Crianza 2013

This juicy Rioja will be perfect with your BBQ. Intense spice and oak on layers of velvety cherry fruit and a slight hint of liquorice. Lasting rich fruit flavours with smooth round tannins. Complex and structured.

For the summer months we are doing these wines at reduced prices in conjunction with our friends from Alliance Wines.

Our grocery shelves have a fantastic selection of marinades, rubs and sauces. We have ‘Kansas City Style’ Prairie Fire BBQ Sauce, ‘Luchito’ Smoked Chilli Ketchup, ‘We Love Manfood’ Smoked Onion Relish and the always popular ‘Rufus Teague’ BBQ Sauce to name but a few. Finally, with so much going on, don’t forget to pick up the so important ‘E.co Charcoal’ from coppiced wood.

If you are visiting friends or relatives, if you are having a few people over for drinks or even if you want an office lunch to share with friends, Freddie has launched his delicious Charcuterie and Cheese Platters at Meat N16. The idea was borne out of Freddie’s artistic bent with our Course and Event platters and he has now produced some ‘take-aways’ to impress. They look fabulous and are bursting with everything good from our Deli and Cheese counters. Our starting offer is suitable for six to eight people but Freddie is ready to produce Platters of all sizes. If you want to know more about what we can do, either pop into Meat N16 or call Freddie on 0207 254 0724, where he will be only too pleased to discuss individual options. At the moment we can deliver from Meat N16 and will be offering the same service from Meat NW5 from September.
